ESPN Films & U.S. Soccer create a new TV series
ESPN has announced that will premiere a new documentary series following the U.S. Soccer team preparation for the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The title for the series is called “Inside: U.S. Soccer’s March to Brazil” a multi-part documentary series from 30 for 30 a production group for ESPN films. Inside: U.S. Soccer’s March to Brazil will air on ESPN and ABC beginning May 13.
Jonathan Hock and Roger Bennett who are producing the series will give a never-before-seen look into the U.S. training camp for the Men’s National Team as players work hard to prepare for the biggest sport event in the world. Coach Jurgen Klinsmann leads the U.S. soccer team on a challenging journey to win a World Cup. The men’s team must go through one of the toughest group in the tournament the “Group of Death” which includes Ghana, Portugal, and Germany.
The series will follow the coaches and players as they go through a demanding practice schedule and play three international matches before they travel to Sao Paula. Klinsmann stated “We are going to work extremely hard to get this group prepared to do something special in Brazil, and we are excited to work with ESPN to allow our supporters the opportunity to see the tremendous effort our players and staff will in to get ready.”
European Soccer Star to Play for U.S.
Bayer Munich striker 18 year old soccer star Julian Green has decided to play for the U.S. national soccer team in Brazil. Green was born in Tampa, Florida his mother is German and his father American gives him dual citizenship. Coach Klinsmann says he is excited to have the young talented Green to join the team.
Julian Green filed a petition with FIFA to allow him choose which country to play for during the World Cups. He is expected to make his debut with the U.S. national team on April 2 to face Mexico in Glendale, Arizona.
USA to host Mexico in an International Friendly
On April 2, 2014 the U.S. Soccer Men’s team will host an international matchup against Mexico. The match will serve as a preparation for both teams to get ready for 2014 World Cup tournament. U.S. will play Mexico in Phoenix, Arizona in a rivalry matchup between the North American rivals.
Last meeting between Mexico and U.S was in Columbus, Ohio in a CONCACAF World Cup qualifier, the United States defeated Mexico 2-0. USA has been placed in Group G and will face Germany, Portugal, and Ghana.
